Why ParentSays Exists

Our Story

I thought I would know what to say when I became a parent.

I was raised by a wonderful mother who taught preschool children and seemed to understand kids in a way that felt almost instinctive. I assumed that when I had children of my own, some of that would naturally kick in.

Then I became a parent. And when the tantrums, bedtime battles, refusals, and big feelings started, I realized something: loving your child deeply does not mean you automatically know what to say in the hardest moments.

I kept seeing helpful advice that sounded like: “When your child says this, say that.” Those lines were useful, but real life never stopped after one perfect sentence. My child would respond. Then I had to respond again. Then he would come back with something else. The hard part was not memorizing one calm line. The hard part was staying steady through the continued back-and-forth.

That is why I built ParentSays.

ParentSays is designed to help parents practice real-life parenting moments before they happen. Not just what to say first, but how to keep going when your child pushes back, argues, melts down, refuses, or comes up with a response you did not expect.

I wish I had something like this when my son was one, before we fully entered the tantrum years. Now, as my daughter gets closer to that stage, I wanted a way to feel more prepared, not perfect, just more ready.

ParentSays is for parents who care, who are trying, and who sometimes blank out when things get loud. It is not about having the perfect response every time. It is about building a little more calm-parent muscle memory, one practice round at a time.
